To select or change your Primary Care Provider (PCP), simply speak with any staff member. When scheduling your next appointment or for urgent needs, we’ll prioritize appointments with your chosen PCP. If they’re unavailable, we’ll schedule with another member of your care team for consistency. For urgent care, our CAIHC Urgent Care Clinic is available.
Dr. Gabe Schuldt obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa. He graduated with a medical degree from Tulane University and completed his residency at Marquette General Hospital in Marquette, Michigan. After moving to Fairbanks, Dr. Schuldt worked at Interior Community Health Center, TVC, and the Laser Vein Center of Alaska.
His interests include running, skiing, camping, and spending time with his wife and two boys.
Ben Turman, MPAS, PA-C, hails from the north shore of Lake Superior in Duluth, Minnesota, where he was born and raised. He completed his undergraduate studies at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth before pursuing his general medical training and Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon. Ben spent 3 years working in Internal Medicine primary care on the Oregon coast in Tillamook before relocating to Fairbanks, Alaska in 2016. Currently, he practices general family medicine at Chief Andrew Isaac Health Clinic in Fairbanks, with a primary focus on geriatric internal medicine and disease prevention.
Outside of work, Ben enjoys mountain and trail running, nordic and backcountry skiing, hunting, and fishing.
Nathon Shoemaker, PA-C, is a Family Medicine Physician Assistant. Born in Anchorage, AK, he was raised in Fairbanks. He earned his B.S. in Biological Sciences from UAF before attending PA school at the University of Colorado. In his spare time, he enjoys camping, hiking, traveling, and exploring the outdoors with his family.
Dr. Gail Norton grew up in Fairbanks and Barrow before graduating from medical school at the University of Washington. She completed her residency in family and community medicine at the University of New Mexico. Dr. Norton worked in various clinics in New Mexico before returning to Alaska.
Her hobbies include music and cross-country skiing.
Dr. Mary Terra is a dedicated Family Medicine Physician on Team Tudi at TCC. Born and raised in Fairbanks, Mary has deep roots in the community she serves.
After earning her BS in Biology at UAF, Mary pursued her Doctor of Osteopathy from Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences in Yakima, WA. Her medical journey continued with a Family Medicine Residency at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato, MN. She then served as an Urgent Care Physician at Mayo Clinic Health System in Waseca, MN, followed by a role as Primary Teaching Faculty at the University of Minnesota Family Medicine Residency in Mankato, MN.
Beyond the clinic, Mary finds solace and joy in gardening, bicycling, berry picking, skiing, and traveling. She cherishes her time with her spouse and two daughters, finding fulfillment in family life.
For Mary, working at TCC is a dream come true. Fairbanks holds a special place in her heart, and she’s passionate about serving the community she loves. With her expertise and dedication, Mary is committed to providing exceptional care to her patients at TCC.
Christi Schmitz (Donaldson) is a dedicated Family Nurse Practitioner serving on the Primary Care Team Tudi at Tanana Chiefs Conference.
Christi hails from Fairbanks but spent her formative years growing up in Bettles and North Pole, Alaska. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Masters from the University of Alaska Anchorage, with a minor in Spanish Language.
With a rich background in healthcare, Christi has worked as an RN in critical care units at ANMC and FMH, and as a Nurse Practitioner in urgent care at CAIHC. She also dedicated two years to volunteering in community health in the Dominican Republic.
Outside of work, Christi thrives in the great outdoors, enjoying activities such as skiing, running, biking, and spending quality time with her husband and their dog.
Driven by a passion for her community and a desire to serve underserved populations, Christi was drawn to TCC. She appreciates the opportunity to work in rural health, fulfilling her aspiration to make a difference in the community she grew up in.
As a new provider at TCC, Christi looks forward to embracing the challenges and rewards of rural health. Leveraging her past experiences in critical care and community health, she aims to provide compassionate and comprehensive care to her patients.
