Navigating life as a parent can be difficult. This past year we have been experiencing a worldwide pandemic that may have increased stressors for parents and their children. During these times supporting one another through parenthood can increase positive outcomes for everyone in the family. Building a team with friends and family will contribute to a child’s healthy development. There are also great programs out there that can provide support to parents. A great one is Positive Indian Parenting – an eight week course where parents spend time learning about traditional and cultural practices and values for parenting. This course also discusses how parents can apply these values to the challenges of modern parenting skills. Another great way to find support is through a parent to parent talking circle. In a parent to parent assembly, parents can talk about their challenges, successes, and share what has worked well for them through tough situations as peer support.
