Due to nationwide prescription drug shortages, Chief Andrew Isaac Health Center and Upper Tanana Health Clinic are experiencing a limited supply of several medications. #TananaChiefs has taken many steps to mitigate this problem. These steps include: ordering more significant amounts of drugs as they become available; purchasing from multiple vendors; limiting the use of those medications in short supply to only when most necessary, and choosing therapeutic alternatives when safe and appropriate.
The most pressing shortages are of:
• Amoxicillin Oral Suspension – for treating a variety of bacterial infections. TCC is choosing alternative safe antibiotics.
• Ozempic and Trulicity – for treating Type II Diabetes. Due to the high demand for Ozempic for weight loss purposes, the need for Trulicity to treat T2D (Type 2 Diabetes) has skyrocketed, putting both medications in very short supply. TCC is choosing Victoza as an alternative medication for T2D patients.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we do our best to serve our patients’ prescription medication needs during this nationwide shortage.
