During the week of January 15th, Tanana Chiefs Conference’s Rural Energy Specialist, Eddie Dellamary along with members of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), Renewable Energy Alaska Project (REAP) held several community meetings with key public figures in McGrath. The meeting consisted of Tribal Council Members of McGrath Native Village Council, McGrath City Council, Board members of the Iditarod Area School District, MTNT Limited, and McGrath Light and Power; as well as many important community members. The purpose of the meetings were to talk about how informed energy decisions are made and help the groups think through all the facets of energy decision-making. Eddie discussed several recent renewable energy projects throughout the Interior, lessons learned from other communities, and current funding opportunities.
